Steve Robinson is an active individual who strives to build a love of sports and fitness in current students as they strive for academic excellence.

Steve graduated from Sultan High School in 2005 and went on to study Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice and Political Science at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. After completing his degrees at WSU he dabbled in Law Enforcement before changing careers to become a teacher.

Steve's road to success was bumpy at times. A year and a half into college he felt that he needed a break so he took a few years off and worked a variety of jobs including construction and the service industry. After four years and an on-the-job injury he decided to return to school with a renewed focus. He returned to WSU for another three and a half years where he earned two Bachelor’s degrees across three majors.

Steve continued to pursue Law Enforcement for a few years but it didn’t end up being a good fit. After a one-year intensive Master’s program while working in the Kent School District he earned his Washington Teaching Certificate and accepted a job as an elementary teacher at George Seitz Elementary School on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands where he now teaches Middle and High School Physical Education and Health.

Living on an atoll has allowed Steve to become an accomplished SCUBA diver.

After transferring to Sultan in his junior year, Steve ran Cross Country and played Soccer for two years. He wasn’t officially part of the marching band but he would often travel to support them. Steve’s life experiences and bumpy road taught him that setbacks don’t have to be the end of the road and he encourages students to not give up because what they view as a major setback may instead be an opportunity to try something they never expected.

Steve has lived on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands since 2019 with his wife, Kendra, and daughter, Mazie. In the summer of 2023 they also welcomed a son, Koa, to their family and they can’t wait to continue to explore the world as a family. For the time being, Steve and his family plan to stay as long as possible in the Marshall Islands where they can enjoy a tropical vacation sunset every evening if they choose.

What does Steve advise to current high school students?

  • Don’t get hung up on the drama. Be kind to others.

  • Be your best self whenever you can.

  • The “traditional” college path isn’t for everyone. Don’t be afraid to explore different career opportunities and find what makes you happy.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you’re struggling to find your way, there’s probably someone out there who has had similar struggles who might have advice.

  • Don't give up. When things get tough and it seems like everything is against you, keep pushing because it gets better or else there will be an alternative that allows it to get better.
